David and Shannon are a passionate, creative couple from Los Angeles. She’s a fitness therapist and lover of dance and he’s a screenwriter and professor. I knew when I met them that they were a unique and interesting duo. David was really excited talking about his tuxedo and outfit details and the West-African outfits that he and his groomsmen would wear for the reception. Shannon has a passion for style-stalking on a budget at thrift stores around L.A. (check her out @ferventlychic) and created the florals and decor for the ceremony and reception.

David and Shannon are a great example of the kind of wonderful people I enjoy photographing because they bring a passion and ingenuity to designing their wedding day. Besides their attention to personal style with their outfits and decor, they also included a foot washing ritual during their wedding, which was inspired by their Christian faith and was a first for me to capture. Also, no one could’ve kept their elegant bridal party from dancing, laughing and a getting the most out of their Honolulu destination wedding experience.
